You could say he’s a jack of all trades. When we see his work we ooh and ahh. He solves a Rubik’s Cube faster than you can say his last name. He’s one of our rock star interns. He’s Brett Schwickerath.

Brett is a soon-to-be-graduate of Wartburg College, has proven an outstanding asset when it comes to social graphics and custom Google display ads, wireframes, and site design mockups. We’re excited to give him opportunities for growth in unchartered territory with html and css.

We asked Brett a few questions about his hopes and wishes with his internship, career goals, and beyond… check out his intern spotlight interview below!

Influence and Inspiration

What are you looking forward to most while working at VGM Forbin?

I’m looking forward to working with talented individuals who are passionate about their work. I want to hone the skills I already have and learn from people who have more experience than I do.

Who are some of the mentors who have inspired you?

My father because he works so hard to support his family. I couldn’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for me. All of my friends have helped mold me into who I am today, and I am happy with who I am so thanks to them too.

What are three words you would use to describe a rockstar intern?

Humble, Teachable, Respectful

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Life isn’t a journey or a pilgrimage like how we’ve been taught.

It’s a musical thing.

If you live life like there is some sort of ultimate goal or destination, you’ll end up disappointed.

Life is a song.

Sing or dance while the music is still playing.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Working in design somewhere, possibly at Forbin. I really enjoy the environment and the people here at Forbin. I am still finding out what I like though. There might be something I have yet to try that might be the thing that I am best at. Who knows.

Just for Fun

What’s the best book you’ve read recently?

Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon

What’s an app you couldn’t live without?

I don’t obsessively use too many apps so I guess my Alarm Clock? X)

Where would you go for your dream vacation?

Not really a specific destination. I’d just go somewhere with my friends. I have found that I enjoy the people more than the destination in traveling situations

We’re excited to see what the rest of the summer and beyond holds for Brett! If you see Brett around the Forbin office be sure to say hi!
