CareATC Inc., a Tulsa, Oklahoma, company suffered a data breach from a user that gained access to an employee account. According to the HIPAA Journal, this had impacted 98,744 patients and employees. An unauthorized user gained access to their employee email accounts. This cost the CareATC Inc. an estimated $2,479,898, according to eRiskHub.
It contained the following protected health information:
- First and Last Names
- Dates of Birth
- Passport Numbers
- Electronic/Digital Signatures
- Username and Passwords
- Driver's License Numbers
- Health Insurance Information
- Social Security Numbers
- Medical History
- Financial Account Information
